Germantownn orthodontist Dr. Peter Sheehan

Dr. Peter M. Sheehan graduated Magna Cum Laude from Georgetown University School of Dentistry in 1987 and was then accepted into Georgetown University’s Orthodontic Residency, from which he graduated in 1989. Simultaneously, he earned his Master of Science Degree in Orthodontics for his research and development of the Temporomandibular Joint (also known as TMJ) diagnosis and imaging techniques. He was an instructor on Georgetown University’s Orthodontic faculty from 1989-1990. Dr. Sheehan then pursued private practice and established his office in Germantown, Maryland. Among the numerous continuing education courses Dr. Sheehan attends regularly, he is also the past president and treasurer of the Greater Washington Orthodontic Society. This orthodontic society is the oldest and only one of its kind in the nation and is devoted solely to the pursuit of orthodontic excellence among its members. He is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the Middle Atlantic Society of Orthodontists, the Maryland State Society of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, the Southern Maryland Dental Society and is also Board Certified by the American Board of Orthodontics. Dr. Sheehan is fully knowledgeable about all modern orthodontic appliances including functional appliances, clear braces, Invisalign and non-extraction techniques. The Washingtonian Magazine voted Dr. Sheehan one of the best orthodontists in the metropolitan area. This was determined by polling local general dentists as to whom they would refer their own family and friends to. Dr. Sheehan is married and has four wonderful children (two girls and two boys). Playing a very active role in their lives, he coaches his children’s soccer and basketball teams. In his free time, he enjoys playing basketball, boating and golfing. .
