Dr. Peter Sheehan
I love the interaction and relationships I have with the patients and families. It is very rewarding to see the smiles from start to finish on every patient and also witness the happiness they feel with their new smiles!
Education and Continuing Education
I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Georgetown University School of Dentistry in 1987, then went to Georgetown University’s Orthodontic Residency, where I graduated in 1989. I simultaneously earned my Master of Science Degree in Orthodontics for my research and development of the Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) diagnosis and imaging techniques. I was an instructor on Georgetown University’s Orthodontic faculty form 1989-1990.
To provide my patients with the highest quality treatments available, I attend many conventions and seminars in continuing education. As a part of my studies and professional activities, I have become president and treasurer of the Greater Washington Orthodontic Society.
As a part of my continuing education, I am an active member of the following professional organizations:
- American Association of Orthodontics
- Middle Atlantic Society of Orthodontists
- Maryland State Society of Orthodontists
- American Dental Association
- Southern Maryland Dental Society
In the Practice
My passion is to provide patients with happy, beautiful smiles and a healthy boost in confidence! I truly enjoy developing relationships with our patients and families during the course of their treatment. We put the needs of our patients first, and it shows! Our practice was voted by Washington Magazine as one of the best orthodontists in the metropolitan area, which was determined by polling local general dentists as to whom they would refer their own family and friends to!
Our office is a lot of fun! We have contests, finger scanning upon check-in, a Kid-Zone area, and a very friendly staff and warm, inviting environment. Our team is dedicated to our patients, and they thoroughly enjoy their profession, which adds to the fun working environment!
I was raised in Albany, NY, and have lived in Severna Park for many years. My wife, Angela, and I have four children named Caitlin, Tara, Conor and Kevin. We also have a dog named Layla. In my spare time, I enjoy golf, boating, exercise, travel, and attending my children’s sporting events.
I enjoy being active in my community, and volunteer for the Adopt-a-Road program, the Halloween Candy Buy Back program, and support various charities individually and through my practice.
