I am so lucky to have a profession I love and that allows me to make a real difference in people’s lives. I’ve been a practicing orthodontist for about 35 years and am still thrilled to see the self-confidence my patients develop as a result of their beautiful new smiles!

I’m particularly excited about the ongoing technological and treatment innovations happening in orthodontics. These, when properly utilized, reduce treatment time, make the process more comfortable, and deliver the stable, lasting smiles my patients love.

For me, orthodontics is the perfect combination of science, technology, art, and personal connections. Each patient comes in with different needs and concerns; in our conversations, as we develop a treatment plan, and then during treatment, we develop a connection; and by the time they’ve achieved their best smile, we’re friends.

Education

In 1987, I graduated magna cum laude from Georgetown University School of Dentistry with my Doctorate of Dental Surgery. I entered the Georgetown University orthodontic residency program and earned my Master of Science in Orthodontics in 1989. From 1989 to 1990, I was an instructor in the orthodontic program at Georgetown.

Continuing education is a core part of my commitment to my profession and to my patients. Each year I complete many courses to stay up to date with the latest techniques, materials, and technologies, as well as to review different research discussions. Additionally, I’m an active member of the Greater Washington Orthodontic Study Club and the Advanced Orthodontic Group.

Beyond the Practice

Born and raised in Albany, New York, I have lived with my family in Annapolis for many years. Angela, my wife, is an attorney and we enjoy traveling and dining out. We have four great children: two sons and two daughters, who have all graduated from college and graduate school and have started their professional careers. One of our daughters, Tara, is currently attending an orthodontic residency at the Bronx Lebanon Hospital. Cece, our family Mutt, keeps everyone in line!

When I’m not in the office, I enjoy time with family and friends, golfing, and boating on the Chesapeake Bay. I really like sailing because of how complex it is to learn and the beauty of being on the water.
